Meeting Minutes – June 20, 2012

Members present:   Bill Clay; Allan Clemons; Bob Sears; Laura Kemmett; Bill Strait; John Kemmett

Absent:  Patty Norton; Ken Lawson

Guest Present:  Phil Clemons – Associate member of Conservation Commission; Bob Sutter – former member of Plymouth County Hospital Re-use Committee.

Documents distributed: Minutes of May 23, 2012 meeting; two reports of the Re-use Committee of Plymouth County Hospital; Pre-application of the Harris Stone property.

First order of business: noting that Joe Gamache nominated to replace Ken Lawson as the Planning Board representative and Bob Overholtzer to replace David Harris, At-Large member.

Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes
Minutes of the May 23, 2012 meeting were presented and approved 6-0.  Bill Clay moved; Bob Sears, second.

Discussion – Harris Stone Property – preliminary application for this project was accepted and overview discussion was held.  Phil Clemons discussed the positive impact the property would have for the town in regard to open space.  There is a group that grants funding may be possible from called “LAND” – Land Acquisition National Diversity.  Laura Kemmett advised that there was no interest by the Hanson Water Department in this property, even though they have property that abuts it. It was noted that there was no property appraisals or current value available.  John Kemmett moved to accept the pre-application, Allan Clemons second; Vote 6-0.  Phil Clemons will provide a status update of this project at our meeting on July 18, 2012.

Discussion – Plymouth County Hospital Project – Bob Sutter spoke of the status of the project - proposed private development of assisted living housing in town.  He provided a plot plan of the layout of property. A discussion was had with regard to having 19 acres to be set aside for passive recreation and overseen by the Conservation Commission. There was conversation regarding financial support by the Community Preservation Committee for the project. Bill Clay advised that he would be much more in favor of other priorities in the community for CPC funding.  Laura Kemmett will meet with town administrator Rene Reed to discuss current status of the project.


Bonney House Project – Allan Clemons reported that there is $8,000 left in the line for expenses on this project and that he is working with people from Bennett Street School.

Thomas Mill Sign – John Kemmett working on having a sign installed at Thomas Mill.

Camp Kiwanee Project – Bill Strait advised that he is still waiting for documentation on the Fire House Project.

Website – Eileen Burke will provide preliminary information on a website for CPC.

Meeting adjourned – at 8:36 pm.  Bill Clay moved, Allan Clemons second, Vote 6-0.
